Ana Clara Santos is founding member, ex-president and current vice-president of the Portuguese Association for French Studies (APEF, Hervé Deluen 2014 prize from the French Academy).
She obtained her PhD at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III under the direction of Jacques Morel (1996) and is currently a professor at the University of Algarve and member of the Center for Theatre Studies of the University of Lisbon (CET / FLUL), where she devotes herself to research projects on the reception of French dramaturgy in Portugal as well as the history of Portuguese theatre.
She has published more than sixty articles and book chapters, in Portugal and abroad, and has (co-)edited more than ten books in these research fields. She joined the team of the European project ARGOS funded by the Creative Europe program (2018-2021).
She co-directs the collection “Exotopies” (from APEF) and directs the collection “Entracte: études de théâtre et de performance” (from CET / FLUL) published by Le Manuscrit in Paris. She is editor-in-chief of the journal Synergies Portugal (journal of the GERFLINT network) and co-director of Carnets, electronic journal of French studies (journal of APEF, available on Revues.org).
